This year CNV Vakmensen celebrates the fact that 125 years ago the trade union was founded in Amsterdam (1894). Throughout 2019. Throughout the year many activities were initiated to commemorate this historic event. The pinnacle of the year of activities was the jubilee congress which took place in the presence of Queen Máxima of the Netherlands on 29 November. The CNV Vakmensen president, Mr. Piet Fortuin, and CNV Vakmensen Secretary General, Mr. Johan Slok presented her with the first copy of the Jubilee book ‘Representation of interests as a calling’.
Furthermore, Mr. Hans Borstlap, president of the Commission Regulation of Work (also known as Commission Borstlap) presented the first findings of the research on whether the rules of work are still appropriate for the way we work today and in the future.
Thereafter, there was a debate on “In what country do we want to work” between the president of CNV Vakmensen and three representatives of the employers-side.
Today CNV Vakmensen has 137.000 members and is a part in over 400 CLA negotiations.
