In memoriam: Vladislav Jevtovic

Last May 24, 2023 the sad news came to us that Vladislav Jevtovic passed away. He passed away after losing a battle he could not win, leaving behind his wife Dragica and son Nemanja.

Vladislav was born on January 13, 1957. Throughout his life he always put the needs of human beings at the centre. Both privately as well as through his activities. He devoted basic attention to the importance of the human factor. Vladislav was a gentleman and truly friendly, but also very persistent when needed. Very good assets when negotiating.

From the start of his career he advocated for the realization of rights and the protection of the material and social position of employees. The development of social dialogue, collective bargaining and the conclusion of quality collective agreements were essential to him.

He believed that only an employee who knows his rights can fight for them! He knew that only a trained, informed, safe and satisfied worker can create profits from which everyone benefits! Collective bargaining and conclusion of the Collective Agreement as an irreplaceable instrument regulating the mutual rights and obligations of employers and employees were the basic goals by Vladislav Jevtovi?.

As the founder of BOFOS, he was also the initiator of organizing the BOFOSIJADA (an annual sports event where teams from different banking unions from the region compete) as he understood the extreme importance of humanity and solidarity, which forms the very core of the event.

Because of his authority, influence, energy and determination, successful cooperation was achieved with numerous organizations from within the region as well as from without. But without his friendliness and kindness all of this would perhaps have never happened.

Upon retirement, Vladislav Jevtovic remained actively involved in the work of BOFOS, as an advisor
for social dialogue, labour relations, labour and legal protection, collective bargaining etc.

As Mara Erdelj, President of RS BOFOS, said beautifully: “A man is measured by his deeds and the legacy
he leaves to those who come after him. Summarizing the years of dedicated work you invested in the betterment of all workers in our sector, both in Serbia and in Europe and also in the world, we are proud of your achievements. Part of your contribution is embedded in the progress of this turbulent and uncertain world
of ours.”

Vladislav will be dearly missed. It was an honour knowing you and we are all forever grateful for the persons you were and all the good things you did!!! Rest in peace.
