CDWP re-elects President and Secretary General

The CDWP made it all… The storm gave way to the three (3) pre-Congress seminars of the Confederation namely; the Seminar on Collective Bargaining, the Seminar on Job Security for Informal Economy Workers and the Powder Soap & Fabric Conditioner-Making Seminar.

Simultaneously, these three seminars were concluded with flying colours as participants coming from trade unions and workers’ associations acquired further knowledge on collective bargaining, social dialogue and skills development.

All of these took place at Auravel Grande Hotel and Resort in the southern part of the island of Luzon in San Pablo City, Laguna from 06-07 December 2019.

In the same venue, followed the 3rd CDWP Congress and the Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Confederation. After a decade of existence, CDWP has accomplished so much in the field of labour education, organizing and membership expansion, CBA (collective bargaining agreements) for trade unions, MOA (memorandum of agreements) for workers’ associations, livelihood projects, women empowerment, linkages with like-minded organisations and many more.

During the 3rd Congress, there were 10 (ten) resolutions adopted on Collective Bargaining and Social Dialogue towards achieving security of tenure or job security, on the continuous advocacy for Human Rights in observing the International Human Rights Day (10 December 2019) and the expression of appreciation to WOW, CLAC, CNV Vakmensen, HKF (Hans Klinger Foundation), Krifa, the DOLE-BLR (Department of Labour and Employment-Bureau of Labour Relation) and the SSS (Social Security of System).

The Congress listened to the testimonies of the representatives from affiliates on how their lives have been touched by the Confederation. It was nice to hear how the CDWP improved their working and living conditions and upgraded the welfare of their whole family.

As usual, the Congress heard the reports of the different working groups such as the amendments on constitution and by-laws, the resolutions, the program of actions, the accreditation and the election committees.

The election took place through nomination of candidates, election by ballot-voting and the declaration of the election results.

Elected were a new set of Officers for a fresh three-year mandate with Bro. Romulo F. Jimeno as President and Sis. Necie M. Lucero as Secretary General among other Officials.

Through all these activities, the CDWP takes pride and honour for having Bro. Roel Rotshuizen as our keynote speaker from WOW.

Humming the tune of “If we hold on together” with all the delegates holding each other’s hands, signalled the finale of the Congress. This was a very loud pronouncement of SOLIDARITY among the workers/members of the CDWP.
