On the second day of the Congress Mikael Arendt Laursen presented and introduced the new WOW logo. Mikael stated that: “At the start of 2021 the first initiatives of creating a new logo were taken. The logo in use had served its purpose perfectly, but it was believed that a revision of the logo was needed.”

The decision was taken that Mikael Arendt Laursen would prepare a number of draft logos. After thinking about the new logo for a while, the first proposals were shared. Or better, it was one proposal, but in different colours.

The thoughts behind the new logo were:

  • The W and W are defining where WOW works (World) and who WOW is working for (Workers)
  • The three shapes in the middle are defining what WOW is and does (Organization/Organizing). The three shapes are the dynamic part where the work of WOW makes sense to people. Organizing seminars, dialogue, sharing experiences and so on.
  • The three shapes also represent both diversity and being united
  • The blue colours are elegant without being boring
  • The intention was to make a simple logo with a modern expression
  • The reason for no longer including the globe was that it served more as frame for the work of WOW than the purpose itself

Because of the fact that the Congress could not take place in 2021 as a result of the pandemic, the logo could only be introduced now. The Congress enthusiastically welcomed the new logo. Particularly the more modern look was appreciated.

The Congress thanked Mikael Arendt Laursen for his efforts, creativity and explanation. With the new logo the World Organization or Workers – WOW is ready for the future!

About WOW

WOW was founded as a Social Christian trade union and finds inspiration in the spiritual believe that man and universe were created by God or by persuasions coinciding with that. The increase of intercultural contacts provided opportunities for the WOW to expand and broaden its view with visions of other religious backgrounds. WOW does so in a joint attempt to build a world community based on freedom, dignity, justice and solidarity.
